Pumped storage peak load plants
Explain pumped storage peak load
plants with diagram.
Diagram-
1) Pumped storage peak load plants are
designed such as to supply water from tail race to head race (Dam) during dry
seasons.
2) The power required for pumps, for pumping
action of water from tail race which is supplied externally.
3) Nowdays, in advanced power plants the
water is pumped using same hydraulic turbine as when turbine rotates in one
direction then pump rotates in opposite/reverse direction and pumping of water
take place.
4) These type of power plants required
less water for operation compared to other type of power plants.
